Each year Singapore hosts the popular two-day Singapore Sevens rugby tournament. 16 teams from all over the world compete in the event each year with teams broken up into four groups of four. A great party atmosphere accompanies the event that each year attracts huge crowds. The Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) International Rugby Sevens has attained the status of the region's premier international club tournament. The silver Ablitt Cup was donated in 1947 for the winners of the first 7-a-side tournament organised by the SCC Rugby Section.
